Hydrogen Purity Analysis by FTIR

چکیده

PROBLEM Historically, hydrogen has been employed in a variety of industrial chemical processes. Typically, the purity requirements for this hydrogen have tolerated contaminant levels ranging from ppm to low percentages, depending upon the application. The use of hydrogen has now expanded into novel applications such as alternative fuel for use in transportation and stationary electrical generation. These applications demand hydrogen purity levels which place severe demands on the analytical instrumentation employed for gas quality assurance. Thus the development of analytical tools and methods that can simultaneously and accurately detect low levels of multiple contaminants is of critical importance to the implementation of the new energy technologies for transportation and energy generation.

A Novel Study of Upgrading Catalytic Reforming Unit by Improving Catalyst Regeneration Process to Enhance Aromatic Compounds, Hydrogen Production, and Hydrogen Purity

Catalytic reforming is a chemical process utilized in petroleum refineries to convert naphtha, typically having low octane ratings, into high octane liquid products, called reformates, which are components of high octane gasoline. In this study, a mathematical model was developed for simulation of semi-regenerative catalytic reforming unit and the result of the proposed model was compared with ...

Application of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) for assessing biogenic silica sample purity in geochemical analyses and palaeoenvironmental research

The development of a rapid and non-destructive method to assess purity levels in samples of biogenic silica prior to geochemical/isotope analysis remains a key objective in improving both the quality and use of such data in environmental and palaeoclimatic research. Here a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) mass-balance method is demonstrated for calculating levels of contamination ...

Structural Characterization of Kraft Lignin for Its Green Utilization

Laboratory-obtained kraft lignins have been studied via elemental analysis (EA), 1H-NMR, FTIR, GPC to analyse the chemical structure. The kraft lignins were subjected to oxidation with H2O2 using Co(salen) as a biomimetic catalyst at mild condition (80oC, 240 min). The kraft lignins isolated from eucalyptus (EKL) and bamboo (BKL) had a low hydroxyl (oxygen) contents, a low molecular weights (~3...

Investigation of carbon dioxide capture from hydrogen using the thermal pressure swing adsorption process: Central composite design modeling

In this study pre-combustion capture of carbon dioxide from hydrogen was performed using a 5A zeolite adsorber. A one column thermal pressure swing adsorption (TPSA) process was studied in the bulk separation of a CO2/H2 mixture (50:50 vol%). The adsorption dynamics of the zeolite bed were investigated by breakthrough experiments to select the suitable range for operational factors in the desig...

FTIR Spectroscopic and Molecular Analysis during Differentiation of Pluripotent Stem Cells to Pancreatic Cells

Some of the greatest challenges in stem cells (SCs) biology and regenerative medicine are differentiation control of SCs and ensuring the purity of differentiated cells. In this work, we differentiated mouse pluripotent stem cells (mPSCs) toward pancreatic cells characterizing this differentiation process by molecular and spectroscopic technics. Both mPSCs and Differentiated Pancreatic Cells (D...
